Flatiron Construction is a 2012 Best Workplace in Canada
Congratulations are in order for our Canadian Division. In mid-March the Great Place to Work Institute Canada announced Flatiron Construction earned the No. 38 spot on the 2012 50 Best Large Workplaces List, naming Flatiron among the best of the best along with companies like Ernst and Young, Google, Microsoft and Starbucks.
What did our employees in Canada think was so great about working at Flatiron?
In 50 out of 58 survey questions, employees ranked Flatiron at or above the benchmark (the average scores of the other companies who made the list). Flatiron scored 10 points or more above the benchmark on 11 questions, including:
- My work has special meaning: this is not “just a job”
- I want to work here for a long time
- There is a “family” or “team” feeling here
- People look forward to coming to work here
- We’re all in this together
Flatiron isn’t planning on stopping at the No. 38 spot. Canadian employees identified some areas where improvements could be made, specifically transfer effectiveness, onboarding and community involvement which are areas Flatiron will look to improve.
Becoming a Best Place to Work has been a key business strategy for Flatiron since 2009. And in the U.S. we’ll continue towards our goal to make Flatiron one of the top 100 best places to work, with each region addressing specific areas that you’ve said are important to you.
