Flatiron Celebrates a Successful Construction Inclusion Week Alongside Turner Construction

At Flatiron, we strive to lead in inclusion within the company and the industry.

We celebrated a successful end to Construction Inclusion Week with our “Raising the Bar on Supplier Diversity” event – hosted alongside Turner Construction Company.

“Advancing supplier diversity is of utmost importance at Flatiron, says Ural Yal, Executive Vice President at Flatiron and event moderator. “Utilizing the resources and perspectives offered by supplier diversity will help the industry overcome labor and resource shortages as we continue to work collaboratively to solve the nation’s infrastructure challenges.

Event attendees has the opportunity to hear from a diverse panel of speakers including Scott Blair, Editor and Chief at Engineering News-Record, Paul Pendergast, founder of BuildIT, Tyra Redus, from the U.S. Department of Transportation and other industry-leading individuals.

“Fostering diversity and inclusion within the construction supply chain simply makes business sense. Not to mention supporting small business owners directly translates to supporting strong communities,” says April Rai, President & CEO, COMTO and event panelist.

“As a subcontractor, Strum Contracting strives to be an asset to our clients by being solution-oriented and problem solvers,” said Teaera Strum, Chief Executive Officer at Strum Contracting Co., when asked how to successfully navigate industry partnerships and deliver profitable work. “Transparency is key because it builds a trusting relationship with the contractor and opens potential opportunity for future collaborations.”

BuildIT, one of the participating organizations, is the world’s largest industry association dedicated to the sustainable development of LGBT/allied businesses, professionals, and tradespeople in architecture, engineering, construction services, program/construction management and large-scale real estate development.

Flatiron is proud to partner with companies that offer diverse perspectives and prioritize inclusion as we continue to advance supplier diversity in the industry.
