Flatiron Honors Mental Health Awareness Month

Did you know that the construction industry has a four times higher rate of suicide than the rest of the population?

As Sarah Tacker, vice president and district manager for Northern California, stated, “As an industry we need to normalize conversations about mental health and suicide prevention.”

This week at our project sites, we held stand-downs to talk about mental health. We are working towards normalizing mental health conversations and supporting not only the physical health but also the mental health of our employees.

“Setting aside dedicated time to reflect on mental health is a reflection of our commitment to this important issue.”

– Tammy Anander, corporate safety training manager

At Flatiron, the health and safety of our employees is our top priority. Our Employee Assistance Programs are free and confidential resources where our employees can access professional support 24/7.

We can all work together to remove the stigma from the topic of mental health because healthy teams are stronger teams.
