Flatiron Safety’s Commitment to Education

Despite a demanding schedule, Safety Manager earns key degree

James Walcik has accomplished his big dream. This year, the Texas-based Health and Safety Manager III finished his Occupational Safety and Health Associates Degree.

Not only that, he maintained a 4.0 GPA in his coursework.

“Safety managers need to keep their skills up to date constantly,” Walcik says. “I am proud to say ‘mission accomplished’ on getting my degree.”

Before finishing his AAS, Walcik had earned several other certifications, including the OSHA 500, OSHA 510, STSC, and the CHST.

“With traveling weekly, maintaining a household, spending time with the family on the weekends, I still managed to find the time to study,” Walcik says. “But I value education just as much as I value field experience.”

Gilbert Cruz, one of Walcik’s team members, completed his Master’s Degree last year in Occupational Safety and Health.

In total, 79 members of the Safety team hold advanced certifications from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.
