Flatiron Secures $140M Contract on Winston-Salem Northern Beltway Project

Broomfield, Colorado (April 11, 2018) – Flatiron, one of the largest infrastructure contractors in North America, together with its joint venture partner, Blythe Development, has been awarded the contract to build three additional segments of the Winston-Salem Northern Beltway in Forsyth County, North Carolina. The $140 million future I-74 Winston Salem Beltway project includes a seven mile stretch of six lane divided facility the beltway from University Parkway to Old Walkertown Road. The project also includes new bridge structures, drainage, overhead signs, and ITS devices.

The three new segments (U-2579D, E and F) are part of the planned 34 mile semicircle around the northern side of Winston-Salem. Once completed, the beltway is expected to reduce traffic congestion, provide better regional connectivity, and provide residents with improved access to jobs, educational opportunities, and area services.

Design is expected to begin soon with construction beginning mid-2019. Completion is anticipated in late 2021.
