Innovation in Action: Paving Engineer Mady Woltemath Explains Barrier Slip Forming

Flatiron is constantly working to minimize travel disruptions.

One way we’re accomplishing this is through an innovative paving technique for constructing medians called barrier slip forming.

Only a handful of contractors are qualified to do it in Colorado. We recently conducted slip forming for Type 9 Barrier at our I-76 York to Dahlia Road Reconstruction project for Colorado Department of Transportation. This project is located in a busy Denver area, where work must be completed as efficiently as possible.

The result of slip forming are medians that can be constructed faster without sacrificing quality or safety.

Let our Paving Engineer Mady Woltemath tell you how it all works.
