Southwest Concrete Paving Association Features Yolo 80 Corridor Improvements Project

The Southwest Concrete Paving Association featured the Yolo 80 Corridor Improvements project — a FlatironDragados-led joint venture with Teichert valued at $206 million. This vital freeway connects the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento, keeping regional and interregional travel moving.

When the Yolo Causeway opened in 1916, it was a two-lane, 21-foot-wide and 16,538-foot-long structure that cost $400,000. A lot has changed in more than a century, and now we’re upgrading it to meet the demands of modern travel and commerce.

Construction is underway to enhance managed lanes, upgrade pedestrian and bicycle facilities, and to improve traffic efficiency with state-of-the-art monitoring and traveler information systems.

Key project highlights include:

  • Widening two bridges.
  • Modifying nine additional bridges.
  • Rehabilitating 10+ miles of roadway.
  • Improving mainline, ramps and system interchange operations.
  • Placing more than 100,000 cubic yards of concrete pavement.

These upgrades will improve safety, reduce traffic congestion and create a safer, more reliable I-80 for the thousands who travel it daily.
